I mixed all the indgredients in my applicator bottle and applied generously pulling massaging it into my hair with a fine tooth comb first and then combinh it through with a wide tooth comb.
I covered my hair with a plastic cap (yes a real one this time) and let it sit for a little over an hour with no heat
rinse thoroughly
your hair should feel sooooo soft but not its most defined, sometimes u gotta settle for one over the other, but it is what it is
Finish by adding your daily moisturizer and style as desired

I Wanted My Kink Back Desperately: Homemade Protein Treatment
Alright, so i told you about my little conditioner mishap that straightened my hair so i am obligated to tell you how i went about fixing it. I mus warn you it is not the most appealing option out there, nor it is the only solution available, however it is probably the cheapest so here goes. Disclaimer: I was desperate to get my kink back and short on cash so i had to use stuff that was around the kitchen. Don't judge me! lol
Homemade Protein Treatment:
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup honey
1 egg
2 tbsp miracle whip (ewww i know)
3 0z Suave Humectant Condish (added mainly to help hide the stench)
Ok. After all of these ingredients are mixed together well, pour into applicator bottle and then evenly distribute it from root to tip, focusing mainly on the damaged areas.
Cover your hair with a plastic cap (or a plastic bag like i did lol) and let the protein mix sit in until you can no longer stand the smell, or start to feel nauseous (it was about 15 minutes for me).
Wash your hair out with a shampoo that will remove the product and smell, but not completely strip your hair of the nutrients you just added. I used Creme of Nature- Kiwi Citrus Moisturizing shampoo and lathered twice.
Lastly I put a little more Suave condish in my hair so that i could finger comb and style my twa
Do one final rinse and your kink should have returned. Mine did :-)

NEVER MIX BAKING SODA AND LEMON JUICE
Ok. So i was on long hair care forum the other day and i saw this thread about some new discovery of moisturizing mojo, and it immediately struck my interest. When I entered the thread the girl said she had mixed some baking soda and citric acid into her conditioner and her hair then felt silky smooth, even after it dried. Later in the thread it went on to say that there were other mixtures that work just as well. One of the options was just adding 1 tsp. of table salt to 8 0z. of conditioner and i must admit IT WORKED WONDERS!!! It may sound bootleg, but hey it is what it is, and it works. My logic that if this simple mixture worked then some of the more complex options would work even better. So I decided to mix 1/2 tsp. of baking soda with 1 tsp lemon juce 4 oz Suave Humectant Condish and 1 oz water. IT WAS A DISASTER!!! My hair looked like the front had been relaxed straight and the rest was texturized. So i repeat NEVER MIX BAKING SODA AND LEMON JUICE into your conditioner!

Why I Went Natural
So, July 10 i cut off all of my relaxed ends and was officially natural. Since I made the change it feels like I'm constantly being asked why I went natural. Some ask, "Was your hair damaged?" or "Did you go natural to feel closer to your African roots?" lol To the first question the answer was no, my hair was lovely before I cut it.

And to the second question, I use all the strength in me not to laugh. I do not feel anymore black now than I did with a perm. I wanted to remind her that "others" will see you the same regardless of whether you have straight hair or not, perfect example would be Don Imus calling the rutgers team a bunch of NAPPYHEADED ho's, although just about all of those girls have a perm. And I couldn't feel more African being that most African women either get perms or wear extensions so that's definately not it.
I decideded to go natural for 3 main reasons:
1. Maintaining relaxed hair was getting expensive. $65/ touch- up and $15/ trim is not where its at for me. and even though i would only get 3- 4 touchups a year that adds up to alot over time
2. I would ALWAYS burn when I got touch- ups and i was tired of the pain. Actually knowing what is in relaxers made me feel foolish for putting harmful chemicals on my scalp. (def not knocking anyone who does it though)
3.When I asked my self why I was getting perms I could not find a good answer. I was doing it out of habit, not desire.
Now that I'm natural I don't think I'll ever go back because:
Natural hair is easier for me.With my hair the way it is now I never "need" to get my hair done, but rather i can go only when I want to. I trim my own hair now, learned how to cornrow, and all is well with the world. I love being able to get up in the morning, wash my hair, and leave the house with it still wet. This is how God intended me to look so I will embrace it and love me. All of me, especially my hair, because it is what it is. So I will use this blog to record my natural hair journey, and to post any other feelings I please.
